Lamination – Engineered Composite Foils
Functional Multilayer Solutions for Industrial Applications
At EppsteinFOILS, we laminate our technical metal foils - especially lead foil, tin foil, and other non-ferrous metal foils - with selected functional materials to create high-performance composite laminates. Only full-surface adhesive or thermal processes are used; chemical or pressure-based methods are not applied.
Whether for medical technology, materials testing, electronics, packaging, or photovoltaics - our lamination solutions meet the exact mechanical, chemical, and functional requirements of each specific application.
Versatile Lamination Combinations for Tailored Performance
Our lamination technology enables a wide range of material combinations, including:
- Metal foil + plastic (e.g. PET, PE, PP, PA)
- Metal foil + paper or cardboard
- Metal foil + nonwoven or fabric substrates
- Metal foil + functional coatings or barrier layers
These combinations create materials with tailored properties such as optimized moisture protection, electrical insulation, formability, temperature resistance, barrier effects, or mechanical stability.
Lamination Techniques at a Glance
We use two proven processes to create high-quality material composites:
- Wet lamination: The adhesive is applied in liquid form and cured under pressure - ideal for flexible substrates and strong bonding strength.
- Dry lamination: The adhesive is pre-dried and only activated upon contact with the second layer - particularly suited for temperature-sensitive materials or defined foil structures.
Depending on the application, we precisely tailor adhesive type, coating weight, temperature, and lamination pressure to the specific materials and requirements.
By combining the layers strategically, both functional performance and downstream processing conditions can be optimized.
